What is Qurban?

Qurban, also known as Udhiyah, is an act of worship performed by Muslims during Eid ul-Adha. It commemorates the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), who demonstrated complete submission to Allah by offering to sacrifice his son Ismail (AS). Allah, in His mercy, replaced Ismail with a ram โ€” and from that moment, Qurban became a sunnah for every Muslim who is able.

The animal โ€” sheep, goat, cow, or camel โ€” is slaughtered in the name of Allah. The meat is then distributed in three parts: one third for the family, one third for relatives and friends, and one third for those in need.
